Recover Data Loss Through EaseUS

Everyone has a tendency to recover from any losses that may occur in his life on a regular basis. This is one of the most important parts of life in which recovery for losses has to be made in any case and if not done, then it would be a difficult to continue. Recovery for financial losses, physical health recovery etc. is all part of life nowadays. But if one doesn’t know the way to recover data or in some cases there is no way for recovery, then it would be difficult to bounce back and it can take a lot of time to acquire the same original position. So, it is important to know the method for recovery in all cases of loss.

In a similar way, it is important to recover the data which a company uses for their day to day activities. This data can be recovered through software and this recovery software is available to them online. These are free of cost and help a business to restore their deleted files in a place where they want it to be. Being a machine, the device cannot delete data from its own, there has to be an external factor to delete files from the device. The external factors to which the device is vulnerable to are hacking, physical damage, virus attacks, malwares, etc. Also, a device cannot recover this data on its own and needs external software that does the work. The device, on the other hand, can be of any type, may it be a computer, smart phone, digital camera etc. Every user can suffer a loss of important data because of the factors his device is prone to.

The EaseUS file recovery software is one of the best softwares available to you as it provides you with a lot of useful features. There are some steps that are very convenient to perform and recover those lost files. The steps included in the software follows a hierarchy of launch, scan and recover processes. Launch of the software requires its download and launch of the software into the device. The next step is to scan the whole device with the help of two different scans which are the quick and the deep scan. After the two scans which are done by the device automatically after the first step, the files which are selected by you are detected and are displayed on the screen. You can then recover these files by selecting them from the screen after previewing them.

The protection of this data is equally as important as its storage. All these actions come under the management of data. For an effective management of data, there has to be used every step to protect it. Data recovery is one step to protect the authenticity of data. It means to recover the deleted data. Deleted data are the hidden files in the computer which are not simply accessible to the user. These have to mined out using a recovery software. The mining of deleted data can be done by installing suitable data recovery software that matches the needs of the user.

Siemens to Update Medical Scanner Software to Deal With Windows Bugs

German industrial group Siemens expects to update software in some of its medical scanners by the end of the month to deal with vulnerabilities that could, in theory, allow some of this equipment to be hacked, a company spokesman said on Monday.

Last week, the US Department of Homeland Security issued a security notice warning that “an attacker with a low skill would be able to exploit these vulnerabilities” using known weaknesses that exist in older Windows software.

The Siemens spokesman said no evidence of any attack had been found.

Siemens’ action provides more evidence of a growing focus on preventing cyber-attacks on medical equipment, which for years ranked low on the list of potential hacking targets.

The vulnerabilities identified by Siemens were in its PET (positron emission tomography) scanners that run on Microsoft Windows 7, which could be exploited remotely.

PET scanners help to reveal how tissues and organs are functioning by using a radioactive drug to trace activity. They can reveal or assess cancer, heart disease and brain disorders.

Initially, the Munich-based company advised hospital and other medical customers to disconnect the scanners until a update was released.

But the company spokesman said on Monday that after further review, it no longer believed disconnecting the scanners was necessary.

Siemens has assigned a security severity rating of 9.8 out of 10, using the open industry standard CVSS (Common Vulnerability Scoring System) risk assessment system, according to the US security notice.

“Based on the existing controls of the devices and use conditions, we believe the vulnerabilities do not result in any elevated patient risk,” Siemens said. “To date, there have been no reports of exploitation of the identified vulnerabilities on any system installation worldwide.”

Large imaging machines such as PET scanners are typically not directly connected to the Internet but are connected to clinical IT systems, which can be infected, for example, by an email attachment sent to a different part of the system.

Siemens to Update Medical Scanner Software to Deal With Windows Bugs“It’s pretty serious,” UK-based independent computer security analyst Graham Cluley said. “It does seem that these vulnerabilities can be exploited remotely and rather trivially.”

He said hospitals in general were badly protected against hacking, partly because of underfunding and partly because some older medical machines are not compatible with the latest versions of software operating systems.

The global WannaCry cyber-attack in May highlighted the vulnerability of medical systems when it caused major disruption to X-ray machines and other computer equipment in Britain’s National Health Service, forcing hospitals to turn away patients.

Earlier this year, Abbott Laboratories moved to protect patients with its St. Jude heart implants against possible cyber attacks, releasing a software patch that the firm said would reduce the “extremely low” chance of them being hacked.

Siemens plans a public listing for its healthcare unit, Healthineers, next year. The IPO is expected to value the business at up to EUR 40 billion ($47 billion).

Microsoft Disables Support for Chinese Digital Certificate Providers WoSign, StartCom

Microsoft has announced it will not support digital certificates issued by Chinese outfits WoSign and StartCom as “they failed to maintain the standards required by company’s Trusted Root Programme”.

“[Microsoft has] Observed unacceptable security practices including back-dating SHA-1 certificates, mis-issuances of certificates, accidental certificate revocation, duplicate certificate serial numbers and multiple CAB Forum Baseline Requirements (BR) violations,” the company said in a post on Wednesday.

The Microsoft Trusted Root Certificate Programme supports the distribution of qualifying root certificates in Microsoft Windows and other Microsoft products and services.

The decision means Windows 10 will not trust any new certificates from these Chinese Certificate Authorities (CAs) after September 2017 and allow “natural deprecation of WoSign and StartCom certificates by setting a “Not Before a date of 26 September 2017”, the company said in the post.

Microsoft Disables Support for Chinese Digital Certificate Providers WoSign, StartComGoogle, Apple and Mozilla binned WoSign certificates in 2016.

Microsoft said it values the global Certificate Authority community and only makes these decisions after careful consideration as to what is best for the security of our users.

Meanwhile, WoSign has dubbed Microsoft’s post “misleading”.

According to a report in The Register, the company said it has replaced its root certificate in November and that its recent certificates present no risk to users.

StartCom claims to be “the 6th biggest CA in the world, securing more than half a million websites worldwide”.

Kaspersky Lab to Withdraw Microsoft Antitrust Complaints Over Windows 10

Moscow-based cyber security firm Kaspersky Lab said on Wednesday it would withdraw antitrust complaints made in Europe against Microsoft after the US technology giant agreed to change how it delivers security updates to Windows users.

Both companies simultaneously announced a resolution to nearly a year of disputes that included Kaspersky alleging that Microsoft had erected unfair obstacles for independent security vendors on its Windows 10 operating system.

Kaspersky Lab in June accused Microsoft of abusing its dominance in the personal computer market to unfairly harm third-party antivirus providers in how it distributed its own Defender antivirus software on Windows 10.

Company founder Eugene Kaspersky said at the time that Microsoft had removed Kaspersky’s antivirus software when customers installed Windows 10 in order to make users adopt Defender, which he derided as an “inferior” product.

Microsoft had denied breaking any laws and said that its goal was to help protect Windows 10 customers from cyber security threats.

In a blog post published late Wednesday, Microsoft said it would work more closely with antivirus vendors before software updates are launched to help mitigate compatibility issues.

The Redmond, Washington-based company said it will also allow antivirus providers to issue their own alerts and notifications to customers before and after subscriptions have expired and provide vendors more visibility and certainty around its update release schedules.

Kaspersky Lab to Withdraw Microsoft Antitrust Complaints Over Windows 10In a statement, Kaspersky said Microsoft’s proposed approach had addressed its concerns raised with Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service, and said that it was “taking all steps necessary” to withdraw its antitrust complaints made with the European Commission and Germany’s national competition regulator.

It added that the two companies had held “fruitful discussions” in recent months about how “antivirus services should operate in the Windows ecosystem to help ensure a safe environment for Windows users.”

The detente comes as Kaspersky Lab is facing mounting accusations from US intelligence officials and lawmakers that the company may be vulnerable to Russian government influence.

Kaspersky Lab has repeatedly denied having ties to any government or that it has helped any government conduct cyber espionage.

In its statement, Flipkart pointed out that this is the biggest ever private investment in an Indian technology company, and will make the SoftBank Vision Fund one of the largest shareholders in Flipkart.

Flipkart Announces Funding from SoftBank, Calls It 'Biggest Private Investment in an Indian Tech Company'In recent times, Flipkart also completed the acquisition of eBay India, and was reportedly in talks to acquire Snapdeal. SoftBank is one of the lead investors in Snapdeal, though the day after Snapdeal announced that it terminated talks with Flipkart, it emerged that SoftBank was looking to invest in Flipkart.

“India is a land of vast opportunity,” said Masayoshi Son, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of SoftBank Group. “We want to support innovative companies that are clear winners in India because they are best positioned to leverage technology and help people lead better lives. Oculus Rift VR Headset Gets a Temporary Price Cut

Oculus, the virtual reality company owned by Facebook, is temporarily cutting the price of its hardware, as the industry tries to figure out why the technology for immersive games and stories has not taken off among consumers.

Oculus is cutting the combined price of its Rift headset and Touch controllers to $399 (roughly Rs. 25,700) for six weeks beginning on Monday, said Jason Rubin, Oculus vice president for content. That matches the price of another virtual reality set, PlayStation VR, made by Sony.

Vive, a virtual reality set developed by HTC, is listed for sale at $799 on its website, and it has not recently cut the price.

Facebook paid $3 billion to acquire Oculus and retain its employees in 2014.

Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg said at the time that the medium, which offers a 360-degree panoramic view through headsets, would “become a part of daily life for billions of people.”

That has not happened, although it is unclear if that is because of high prices, something inherent in the technology or some other reason.

Pricing discounts are sometimes a sign of weak product sales. Rubin, though, said in an interview that was not the case with Oculus, which he said could have cut the price sooner but wanted to wait until there were enough games, movies and other entertainment to keep a broad audience busy.

Oculus Rift VR Headset Gets a Temporary Price CutThe pace of game releases has quickened, making a wider appeal possible, Rubin said: “We’re now in a space where the mass market can be much happier.”

Oculus cut its price once before this year, dropping it from $798 to $598 in March.

In May, Oculus shut the doors of its Story Studio, two years after it launched at the Sundance Film Festival, to focus on external content makers.

Another setback was a $500 million legal judgment against Oculus in February, when a jury found in favor of video game publisher ZeniMax Media Inc in a lawsuit accusing Facebook and Oculus of copyright infringement. Oculus has asked for a new trial.

Western Digital Says It Matched Rivals’ Bids for Toshiba Chip Unit

Western Digital Corp said it matched rival bidders’ offers to acquire Japanese conglomerate Toshiba Corp’s flash memory unit ahead of a court hearing on Friday over whether to halt the auction process.

Western Digital, in court documents filed July 7, said it has made six proposals since February, including a proposal on June 27 matching the best offer. On June 21, Toshiba said its preferred bidder was a consortium of Bain Capital and Japanese government investors offering $18 billion.

Since February, Toshiba has been scrambling to sell its memory chip business, the second largest in the industry after Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, to cover losses from its ailing nuclear reactor division. But suitor Western Digital sued Toshiba in San Francisco County Superior Court for an injunction to stop the sale, arguing that a joint-venture it has with Toshiba at a plant in Japan means the chipmaker cannot sell without its consent.

Western Digital Says It Matched Rivals' Bids for Toshiba Chip UnitIn a filing on July 7, Mark Long, the chief financial officer of Western Digital, said the company’s most recent offer on June 27, made with private equity firm KKR, “is in line with the highest competing bids for (Toshiba’s chip unit) that have been reported in the press.”

The actual dollar figure of Western Digital’s offer is redacted from the document. Western Digital declined to comment. Toshiba did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Toshiba has asked the court in San Francisco to dismiss Western Digital’s attempt to stop the sale, arguing that the US court does not have proper jurisdiction over a business that is based primarily in Japan and that an injunction would cause it irreparable harm. A hearing is scheduled for Friday.

Aaron Rakers, a managing director with Stifel, said in a note to clients on Sunday that the new filings suggest the two parties could reach a deal before the court hearing.

“Given that some negotiations between (Western Digital) and Toshiba on proposed acquisition terms started over the past month, we think a resolution could be possible prior to the (July 14) hearing,” Rakers wrote.

Government planning new software to stop age fraud in sports

Sports secretary Ajit Sharan said here on Monday the government plans to come out with a software which will provide each athlete, registered under the National Sports Federation (NSF) at a young age, a unique identification so that he/she will not be able to change his/her details later on.

“Age fraud has been going on for quite some time. All NSFs were advised to create some kind of a database or software when an athlete is around 12 or so; when he or she is less likely to commit an age fraud,” said Sharan.

“Since the NSFs did not follow, we thought of coming out with a generic software which can document details of athletes, including age, and provide them some kind of unique IDs which they will be able to carry throughout their career.”

Age fraud is quite common, especially at the junior level, in Indian sports. It is done so that an older child can perform better than a younger one in a certain age category competition.

sports-L“Once the IDs are registered at a young age, it will be difficult to commit the fraud. Kids at the young age of 12 do not commit age frauds. This is usually done when the child progresses from the junior to senior level,” said Sharan while launching School Sports Promotion Foundation’s (SSPF) National Talent Search Nurture programme.

“There are some federations who followed our advice like squash and taekwondo but most did not. We have not set any time limit but may be it will be ready in another three months or so.”

Sports Authority of India (SAI) director general Injeti Srinivas said that the problem should be arrested at once.

“Coaches, parents; everyone is involved in this. If our coaches are involved then they bring shame to the country. It is a serious matter but the important question is how to arrest it. Accountability is important,” said Srinivas.
